Be sure to order soon-while we will have these items for walk-in sales all weekend, they are sure to sell out. Ordering ahead is your best bet. Friends, Family & Flour:  An Evening with Roxana Jullapat and Ellen King

 

Join us for an inspiring and delicious evening at Hewn Bakery on Wednesday, April 29th at 6:30 PM. We are thrilled to welcome Roxana Jullapat — celebrated baker, author, and co-owner of the iconic Friends & Family bakery in LA — to our Evanston kitchen.

Ellen and Roxana will dive into the art of the "morning bake," discussing Roxana’s recently published cookbook, Morning Baker: Recipes and Rituals for Breakfast and Beyond. Known for her deep commitment to heritage grains and seasonal California produce, Roxana’s recipes redefine the breakfast table with soul and technique.

Participants will get a front-row seat in the Hewn kitchen as Ellen and Roxana demo signature techniques from the book, sharing professional tips to help you elevate your home baking. This will be a lively, informal conversation between two peers who share a passion for grains, community, and the craft of baking.

Your ticket price includes:

• A copy of Roxana's new cookbook, Morning Baker: Recipes and Rituals for Breakfast and Beyond.
• A live baking demonstration featuring techniques from the book.
• An intimate Q&A and book discussion with Roxana and Ellen.

Mick Klug Farm CSA

You know that spring is here when the Mick Klug CSA starts up again!  The April CSA (available in Plus or Standard Sizes) brings you produce from neighboring farms and Chicago-land purveyors AND an in-season recipe each week. What better way to support both your community and local agriculture?  Order for pick up at our Evanston location on Wednesdays, 8:00-9:30am, starting April 1st for five weeks.

 

 

 

 

Passover

We love to provide those final sweet touches that make your holiday gatherings feel special.

Starting April 1st, we are bringing back a seasonal favorite at all three Hewn locations: Chocolate Dipped Coconut Macaroons.

Handcrafted in our kitchen, these macaroons are perfectly toasted on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and finished with a dip in premium dark chocolate. They are a timeless treat that everyone at the table — from the youngest to the oldest — will enjoy.

Available for walk-in sales at our Evanston, Libertyville, and Winnetka locations starting Wednesday, April 1st, through the end of Passover (daily while supplies last!).

We are thrilled to officially unveil our new and improved website. Just like our bread, we took our time to get this right, creating a digital space that better reflects the craft and community behind our three locations. You’ll find a much more seamless experience, including an integrated daily bread schedule so you always know which specialty loaves are hitting the shelves in Evanston, Libertyville, and Winnetka. We’ve also streamlined our online pre-ordering to make securing both your holiday and daily favorites easier than ever, and added a dedicated section for Take & Bake instructions so you can get that perfect Hewn bake right in your own kitchen. New Sandwiches

With the arrival of spring we are excited to introduce (and re-introduce) some new sandwiches on our menu.

In our grab and go refrigerated cases at all of our locations, you will now find a delicious ham on baguette and a house roasted turkey sandwich on Country. The Hewn fan favorite TAM (Turkey Avocado Melt) is back in Evanston and Winnetka, and due to popular demand our Meatball Sub will continue to be available in Evanston on the weekends.  We hope you enjoy these yummy lunch items!

 

 

 

Stay tuned for our Mother’s Day menu, which will be available on our Tock ordering site this weekend.  Items include a veggie quiche with ramps, goat cheese and asparagus, our Passionfruit Cheesecake, a special croissant box, take & bake items and several different breads including our Chocolate Nut Bread (pictured above).  Also, be sure to check out our spring drink specials, including a Lavender Honey Latte, Strawberry Lavender Matcha and Strawberry Iced Tea…refreshing and delicious!
